Wisla is a city in the south of Poland in the Silesian Beskids mountain range. Here you can find a ski resort attracting a lot of winter sports enthusiasts. There are 25 kilometres of pistes with different difficulty ratings. The beginners can hire an instructor to improve their skills.
The nearest airport is in Katowice, you can reach it by car or get to the Katowice railway station and take a bus from there. The car ride is faster. You can choose yourself how to get there, but we advise to book a transfer, especially if you are travelling with a group and gear. You can find a suitable vehicle with an English speaking driver.
Wisla is divided into 4 ski resorts. Javornik has the most picturesque slopes and is perfect for beginners. The main pistes for all skill levels are in Cienkow, the altitude variation here is 540 metres. Stozek has the best slopes for slalom. Pistes in Soszow pass through the Czech Polish border. Ski passes in Wisla are different for each resort.
The season in Wisla lasts from December to March. The weather is always suitable for skiing. The lowest temperature in January is only -3°C. Remember that the locals from Katowice and Krakow come here on weekends and overcrowd the slopes and creating longer waiting lines for lifts.
If you are ready to take a break from the slopes try a number of other activities available, try paragliding or try bobsleigh. There is an aquapark in hotel Golebiewski on Barania mountain. It’s free for the residents.
There other things to see here besides the resort. Hike in Silesian Beskids or explore the town of Wisla. Try local cuisine: the Kvasnica soup, a trout from Vistula river and Bigos, the prices are very reasonable.
If you are willing to explore the region further than go to the zoo in Ustron. Visit Zywiec and take a tour of a XIV century castle and try local beer. To travel around with comfort hire a car with a driver in Wisla.
