If you are going to visit mysterious Romania for the first time, we advise you to start travelling in Bucharest, the political and cultural centre of the country.
Every year more and more tourists go to Romania. Contacts between Romania and other countries are already established, so you can get Bucharest easily. Buses 780 and 783 and also commuter trains go from the airport to the city centre. However, it is better to hire a transfer to get to the old town in 20 minutes.
Bucharest is a big city, it is 2 times bigger than Paris. To move around you will need to take the metro, buses, trolleybuses or trams. At night there is almost no public transport in Bucharest, that is why taxi is in high demand here at this time.
If you are coming to Bucharest for a while, think over all the details of your trip in advance. In the capital, there are many sights you won’t be able to visit due to a lack of time.
If you want to know more about the history of this country, buy tickets to the National Museum of Romanian History and be sure to visit guided tours in the Old Princely Court also known as Curtea Veche. Planning your trip-list with cultural sights don’t forget to include the National Museum of Art of Romania and the Museum of Art Zambatsyana where you will see the paintings of Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro and Henri Matisse.
The Palace of the Parliament is the most famous landmark of Bucharest. The building is situated in the Old Town. You can enjoy its exciting view outside or by going on the guided tour which starts at 10.00 and ends at 16.00 every day. By the way, here you can also find the Museum of Modern Art.
Perhaps, after spending some time in Bucharest you will want to change your environment. There are lots of places around the city worthy of your attention. For instance, you can go from the capital to the well-known village Snagov where the grave of Vlad the Impaler also known as Count Dracula is located. It will take about 3 hours to get the charming city Constanța on the shore of the Black Sea. You can go to these cities by public transport but we advise you to rent a car with a driver in Bucharest. It is the most comfortable way to move around in Romania.
