Book your transfer to Tartu through the service GetTransfer.com if you arrive early in the morning or at night. An experienced driver will meet and quickly, in 40 minutes, will drive to the hotel.

Tartu is the second largest in Estonia. This is the oldest city with a rich history, the first mention of which appeared back in 1030. Six centuries later, the University of Tartu was founded here, one of the first higher education institutions in the country. On the streets you can feel a light, free and youthful atmosphere. Tourists come here for the old sights of Tartu and a special cultural life.

What to see in Tartu? First go to the Town Hall Square in the heart of the Old Town. Here stands the Town Hall of the XVIII century, the shops of the XIV century, traditional taverns and bakeries. Previously, this place was connected by a hill fort on Toome Hill and a river port. Merchants and buyers came here from all over the country.

Take a walk to the top of Toomemägi in Toome Park. Next to it are the ruins of the Dome Cathedral of Peter and Paul of the XV century. It is believed that this temple was the largest Gothic structure in the entire Baltic States, but during the Livonian war was heavily damaged. The remaining part was rebuilt under the university library and opened the Museum of History.

Another important architectural monument is the Church of St. John of the XIV century. Outside and inside the building is decorated with numerous decorative elements of baked clay. There are over a thousand of them.

You can rent a car with a driver in Tartu to visit the shore of Lake Peipsi and go to the local Old Believers church, look into a telescope at the observatory on Tyravera hill and buy a ticket for the exhibition at the Estonian Art Museum.

What is the move around the city? The bus is the only form of public transport. From the center to distant areas and vice versa runs more than 25 directions, the total length of which is 492 kilometers. At the stops there are electronic boards showing the time of arrival of flights or their possible lateness. Taxi in Tartu is practically not used. Locals drive personal cars or bicycles. Tourists prefer to book a transfer. It is more convenient and more economical, especially if a large company is traveling. Enjoy your holiday!
