You can take FlixBus and BusCenter bus from the center of Milan to Venice.
With FlixBus it only takes 4 hours. The route starts at Milano Lampugnano station near Lampugnano M1 metro station and terminates at Tronchetto bus station in Venice. Operates almost around the clock.
With a BusCenter bus it takes 5 hours from Milan to Venice. The bus leaves Lampugnano station twice a day: at 9:00 and 16:00. The terminus is Tronchetto station.
Tickets can be purchased at the bus station ticket office or online on carriers web-sites.
Appropriate alternative for travelling alone, in a small group and light without small kids.

Trains run from 6:45 until 20:45 with 30 minutes interval, departing from Milano Centrale and arriving at Venice Central Station (Venezia Santa Lucia). Travel time: 2.5 hours.
- Regional trains Regionale and Regionale Veloce with a change in Verona.
Trains run from 6:25 until 20:25 with 1 hour interval, departing from Milano Centrale and arriving at Venice Central Station (Venezia Santa Lucia). Changing in Verona (Verona Porta Nuova) takes no more than 10 minutes. Travel time: 3.5 hours.
You can also take ItaloTreno high-speed train to Venice. Travel time: 2.5 hours. Departing from Milano Centrale and arriving at Venice Central Station (Venezia Santa Lucia) every two hours from 7:35 until 20:35.
Tickets can be purchased online or from the station box offices.
Good choice for travelling alone or in a small group without a lot of luggage.
