Norway is the country of amazing nature: mountains reaching the sea, the sky just above the mountains and breathtaking auroras. If you have never been to Norway, it’s high time you start packing for a trip. You should start from Narvik. It is better to plan your trip in advance so that you will not have any trouble booking a hotel room or finding the best transfer offer.
The way to the city is not simple. Because of the landscape, there are no trains and the nearest airport is 86km away from Narvik. After you arrive in Evenes, you can take a Flybussen bus or use a transfer. The latter is especially convenient in case you go to Norway for skiing –– all the equipment fits in the trunk.
The weather in Narvik is perfect for winter sports. Ski resorts are very popular in Narvik as it has the best conditions for it in all of Scandinavia. The season starts early: it starts snowing in November, the winter is long and not too cold.
You can visit all the landmarks of Narvik in one day. There are only two museums in the city: the War History museum and the Museum of the North. There is an observation deck with a restaurant 650m above the city. You can reach it via the cableway.
When you finished with the exploration of Narvik, rent a car with a driver for a couple of days and go on a journey across Norway. Both children and adults can enjoy the polar zoo where you can see bears, wolverines, lynxes and wolves. If you travel in the direction of Alta, be sure to visit the museum under the open sky: more than 3000 cave paintings. The largest canyon in the world, Sautso, is also nearby. After the intensive and exciting day, stay in the igloo-hotel. The rooms there are made of ice and beds are covered with deer pelts. If you are lucky, in the night you would be able to enjoy the majestic aurora.
