Donovaly to stary ośrodek narciarski, położony na granicy szczytów Tatr Niskich i Wielkiej Fatry. Po 1945 roku wybudowano tu centrum sportowe, które stało się ulubionym miejscem wypoczynku Słowaków i turystów. Podróżni przyjeżdżają tu od listopada do kwietnia. Przez cały ten czas świeci jasno słońce, a opady są minimalne.

Terytorium podzielone jest na dwa regiony narciarskie: Zahradishte i Nova Gola. Pierwsza jest idealna dla początkujących i doświadczonych narciarzy, druga przypadnie do gustu ekstremalnym. Specjalnie dla snowboardzistów wybudowano park „Fan Arena”, w którym ustawiono trampoliny i wyposażono szerokie tory.

Na Donovaly są stworzone wszystkie warunki do urozmaiconego wypoczynku. Można poćwiczyć w klubie fitness lub zrelaksować się w spa, zagrać w kręgle lub zjeść posiłek w restauracji.
