Transfer in Rotterdam (Netherlands)
Reviews
Rotterdam is the second largest city of the Netherlands and the largest port in Europe. It has no old city and traditional Dutch architecture can be found only in the city outskirts.
City port is a vital transport nod of the country but most of the tourists come from other cities or countries. Local airport receives both local and international flights. The airport is just 5km away from the city which can be crossed on taxi or bus. If you arrive in a different Airport, you can use a bus to travel to Rotterdam in just 1.5h The most comfortable is travelling on transfer - it is the fastest and most comfortable means of travel.
What to see in Rotterdam? When walking around, take a note that the streets are very clean and tidy and there are many graffiti and sculptures around. The city center is composed of modern buildings, despite the fact that Rotterdam was found in the XIII century. During WWII the city has suffered severe damage and citizens decided not to restore the old buildings but instead build completely new ones. Be sure to see the block of treehouses, huge market arc and the Erasmus bridge.
One of the most important Rotterdam landmarks is the Naval Museum with more than 500 000 exhibits and Boijmans van Beuningen art gallery.
When staying in Rotterdam, be sure to rent a bicycle to feel like a true Dutch. As the tourist number is much lower than in Amsterdam the traffic is not as heavy. The weather is rainy and windy so make sure to have an umbrella and some warm clothes on you.
If you want a change of scenery, the medieval Delft is just 16km away. There you can walk around the gingerbread houses, churches and numerous canals. Book a car with a driver in Rotterdam and enjoy your trip.
