Keflavik Airport ligt op 50 kilometer van de hoofdstad van IJsland. Het is de belangrijkste hub voor de luchtvaartmaatschappijen Icelandair en Iceland Express. Er is maar één terminal. De luchthaven bedient alleen internationale vluchten. Binnenlandse bestemmingen en routes naar Groenland of de Faeröer worden geaccepteerd door Reykjavik Airport. Het vliegveld is gebouwd in 1942. Het werd tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog gebruikt voor militair-strategische doeleinden. In het midden van de twintigste eeuw begon men passagiersvluchten te accepteren. International Airport Council in 2014. erkende de luchteenheid Keflavik als beste in Europa.
