Cologne is located in the western part of Germany, in North Rhine-Westphalia, off the banks of the Rhine River. During the Second World War, all buildings were destroyed, except for the Cologne Cathedral. Its construction began in the middle of the 13th century and ended in the late 19th. This is the third highest church, which reaches 157 meters. Monumental Gothic facade and towers delight tourists: sometimes the cathedral is compared with Notre-Dame de Paris. This is one of the most popular places to visit.

The restored architecture in the center also impresses with its energy and grandeur. The uninitiated guest does not even suspect that the Romanesque buildings were reconstructed in the 20th century. In historic Innerstadt there are luxury hotels and most of the attractions, including the Cathedral.

Cologne consists of 9 districts. Travelers can take a walk in the picturesque parks in the Lindenthal area, visit the zoo in Nippes, and go from one bank of the Rhine to another through a curtain bridge in Rodenkirchen. Cologne is the birthplace of Cologne. There is a famous factory where the first bottle with the legendary aroma was released in Ehrenfeld. Emigrants live in Kalka. It is not necessary to stay here for a long time at any time of the day. This is not the most prosperous district.

You need to spend at least a week to have time to visit all the excursions offered in Cologne. There are many beautiful churches and cathedrals in Germany. It is best to visit the Town Hall Square in the evening. The Town Hall and its surrounding buildings are illuminated at dusk, thereby creating a festive atmosphere. Equally beautiful are the Church of St. Martin and the Church of the Holy Apostles, made in the Romanesque style. The oldest building, laid several centuries before the Cologne Cathedral, is the Church of St. Gereon of the 5th century.

There are exhibition complexes with various expositions: from archaeological and ethnological to the most unusual (Museum of Spirits, the Museum of Chocolate, etc.) in Cologne. The originals of Picasso are kept in the Museum of Ludwig, and everybody can also see with origin the originals of German artists of the 14th-19th centuries in the center of Valraf-Rihartz.

If you are traveling with children, we recommend you rent a car with a driver. On private vehicles you can see not only the whole city in a short time, but also go to children's entertainment parks. For example, in Fantasia-Land there are also "Berlin" carousels, various thematic shows, attractions and much more. In the local zoo it is interesting to go on an excursion to the elephant, the terrarium and the zones with a special microclimate. Deers, peafowls, pets live in enclosures with low fences in the park Stadtwald. Everybody can pat and feed animals without a guide.

There are enough recreational activities in the city: bars (Cologne is famous for local khelsh drink) and clubs, and annual carnivals.
