Transfer from Costa del Sol airport
Getting Downtown from Malaga Airport
If you’re planning to dive into the Andalusian lifestyle and visit the hometown of one of the greatest artists — Pablo Picasso, then you’re surely heading to Malaga, a resort city set along the sparkling coastline of the Costa del Sol with golden beaches and impressive botanical gardens and parks.
This port town has only one airport in its disposal and it’s regarded as Spain’s fourth busiest air hub.
The journey from the airport to the city center will pass seamlessly as the airport is just 8 km southwest of the city center. Malaga Airport, officially known as Malaga Costa del Sol Airport, has three terminals. The airport is crucial for Spanish tourism as it’s the main airport for all resorts on the Costa Del Sol. 85% of its traffic is international, serving mostly European destinations such as the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark. The airport is a hub for low-cost airlines like Easyjet, Ryanair and Vueling.
The airport provides three transfer options to the city center.
RENFE train
RENFE is Spain’s national railway company that also provides its service connecting Malaga Airport to the city center. This is the quickest and cheapest way to Malaga city center by far and the best option for those who are strapped for cash. After you get on the C1 line, it will take only 12 minutes to reach Malaga. Trains run every 30 minutes. You will need to get off the train at Centro-Alameda station — the main train station in the city. The Malaga Airport Train Station is just outside the arrivals hall at Terminal 3.

Bus
The Airport Express and Bus 19 take passengers from the airport to Malaga. The Airport Bus Station is located outside Terminal 3. For your information, buses don’t operate at night.
Working hours: From 07:00 AM to 00:00 AM
It’s neither the cheapest nor the fastest option — not recommended.

Taxi/Transfer
Ordering a taxi is the least stressful way to reach Downtown Malaga. Especially so, if you're getting off a long international flight, there might be no energy to drag your heavy bags around on the metro. If you’re new to the city, we recommend not trying to navigate the public transport, as it’s easy to get lost. Taxi ranks at Malaga Airport can be found outside the arrivals hall at Terminal 3. The journey time is usually 20 minutes, which costs about €22.
If you don’t want to waste your time at the airport struggling to arrange your way to Malaga, you can book a transfer in advance to better suit your arrival time at Malaga Airport.
We recommend GetTransfer, as it offers the best prices in the area. In case you don’t agree with the company’s pricing, you can offer yours, which is pretty convenient.
For a group of four and more people, GetTransfer can find you a vehicle that suits the size of your company with all the baggage you have. Another sweet little bonus is that you can share the ride cost, which is beneficial for everyone.
For families and passengers with massive luggage, getting a suitable vehicle on GetTransfer is a lifesaver. You won’t have to worry about your heavy belongings or your children getting lost in public transport. GetTransfer is a stress-free experience.
Forget about expensive airport taxis or confusing public transport system. GetTransfer will get you in comfort and no fuss to any point in the city.
The journey time is about 20 minutes, depending on the traffic. Still, with GetTransfer the time will fly by while you will be admiring Malaga from your passenger seat.
