Getting Downtown from the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez Airport
If you chose the Spanish city of Elche as your travel destination, then you’re after its famous palm grove with North African origins – the Palmeral of Elche, which by the way is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Elche is a small town in southeast Spain with a rich history.
Elche is served by Alicante-Elche Airport – Spain fifth busiest airport after Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport, El Prat Barcelona Airport and Malaga Costa Del Sol Airport. Alicante-Elche serves as the main airport for the Murcia region and Alicante province. The airport has been in operation since 1967.
As for the transportation to the city from Alicante-Elche Airport, there are basically two transfer options, which are taking a bus or getting a taxi or transfer service.
Bus
Several buses connect the airport to Elche city center: Aerobus Alicant, 1A line and 1B line.
The bus station is located outside the Passenger Terminal, level 2. Please note, the service doesn’t operate at night, the working hours: from 07:10 to 22:10.
Line 1A is an urban bus that takes passengers directly to Elche city center with stops in Torrellano and Elche industrial park.
Bus route 1B has two directions from the airport, the first one takes passengers to Torrellano and Elche, the other one will get you to Playa El Altet and Arenales del Sol. Please be careful while getting on a bus.
The Aerobus Alicante is a local bus service that runs between the airport and Alicante, Elche.
Unlike 1A and 1B bus routes, the Aerobus Alicante works around the clock.
Travel time: 40 minutes
Ticket cost: €1.50
Taxi/Transfer
Taxi ranks are located outside the Arrivals and Departures areas. Getting a taxi from the airport is pricey but it’s twice as fast as the bus. Ordering a taxi is the least stressful way to reach downtown Elche. Especially after a long international flight there might be no energy to drag your heavy bags around on the metro. If you’re new to the city, we recommend not trying to navigate on public transport, as it’s easy to get lost. The taxi ride will take about 17 minutes and it will cost you €23.
If you don’t want to waste your time at the airport struggling to arrange your way to Elche, you can book a transfer in advance to better suit your arrival time at Alicante-Elche Airport.
We recommend GetTransfer, as it offers the best prices in the area. In case you don’t agree with the company’s pricing, you can offer yours, which is pretty convenient.
For a group of four and more people, GetTransfer can find you a vehicle that suits the size of your company with all the baggage you have. Another sweet little bonus is that you can share the ride cost, which is beneficial for everyone.
For families and passengers with massive luggage, getting a suitable vehicle on GetTransfer is a lifesaver. You won’t have to worry about your heavy belongings or your children getting lost in public transport. GetTransfer is a stress-free experience.
Forget about expensive airport taxis or confusing public transport system. GetTransfer will get you in comfort and no fuss to any point in the city.
The journey time is about 20 minutes, depending on the traffic. With GetTransfer the time will fly by while you will be admiring Elche surroundings from your passenger seat.
Booking the most suitable vehicle with GetTransfer is as easy as pie.
